America Came Home Today

She came back with her head held

high and her Flag was on display,

Standing proud and tall as if to say,

I am going to have it my way.

For a time she held her head at half mast,

As if to hold her head in prayer,

For the people, her people who died,

For what was done to them, this awful crime,

Then raise her head back to full mast,

And said Amen, Because she knew it was time.

She brushed the dirt from her knees,

And glad of what she saw,

The country was with her and for her,

The streets were lined with Flags such as she,

they were all blowing in the gentle breeze.

She looked toward another country

not with vengenace,

But she knew someone must pay,

For the people who had died,

She had a promise to keep not only for her colors,

But from something down deep inside.

She knew this would not be a gentle breeze,

But a great wind to hold her out for all to see,

They didn't bring me here to put me on display,

But for all to see that I am going to have it my way.

So have respect for me and my brave MEN and WOMEN,

I am going to be the first to arrive and the last to leave,

Because, I am going to have it my way.
