Just a Reminder !

Several events are posted here - check all of them

As you know we are getting really short so I am recommending that the families stop mailing on or about the 5th of January.  The packages are the big concern they may not get here by the time we the leave this FOB.
Letters might make it but I don't recommend trying.  If family members want to risk it they can, but DO NOT put anything valuable inside.  I realize this is short notice and I apologize but I would hate for someone to not get mail.
Everyone here is doing well.  We are just waiting to come home.  Please do not discuss any specifics about our redployment over the phone.  Remember little bits of information can be pieced together and that endangers the safety of your Soldier.

Thanks,
CPT Long

Hello Everyone!      We will have a support group meeting at 2 pm Sunday Jan. 9th at the American Legion in Haleyville.  I am hoping to have a guest speaker to come and talk to us about homecoming and other questions we may have.  Please forward this ASAP to the others in your group.  I apologize for the late notice.  We have been trying to find a 'warm' place to meet.

Thanks for your help!

To all,    I have talked with Major Curtis this morning and he confirmed to me that no one in the 115th was injured or killed in the attack on the Dining Facility located in Mosul.  The Lord continues to bless and protect our soldiers.

Hi ladies

Thank you for attending the Christmas party. I think it was a big hit.

At least Santa was.  I apologize that I did not get across all the info

I wanted to.  The following is the most pressing as of right now.

It is Christmas activities that are going on for you. I will write a letter

about the homecoming activities that are planned so people are informed

before the next meeting. Im planning for the next meeting to be on

January 9, 2004 the location is not settled yet so be looking for that

in upcoming emails. At the next meeting there will be a copy for each

family of the slide show Wiley and Vicki Dean did for the Veterans Day.

I know there are rumors floating around all over the place just settle down.

There is nothing official yet.  Try to enjoy the holidays.

December To All Family Members with Loved Ones

in Iraq and Afghanistan

The Church at Lake Guntersville

Would Like to Invite You to their Presentation of

Light a Candle

This is a Christmas play created by a mother and daughter who wanted to give

something to the families and soldiers serving our country.  This is a story of a

family who eldest son is serving in Iraq during Christmas.  This shows the love and

faith in Jesus that he and his family have during this trying time.

They are also asking for pictures of your soldier or you and your soldier,

which can be used in the Vestibule as people enter to see the play.  People can see

for themselves the brave men and women fighting to make this world a better place.

I have read this play and it is beautiful.  I plan on seeing it,

(Maybe twice)

They are having a special night for the soldiers and families of the deployed on

Friday December 10th at 7:00p.m.   If you would like to come please let me know.

There is no chargethis is their way of saying thank you!

There will be a slide show with about 176 or so pictures with deployed soldiers

from the  Alabama  Guard and their families.

Thought this might be of interest to you.  I received this from Jan Curtis, mother of

Maj. Richard Curtis.

Hi Linda....

I found this link on the internet and thought I'd pass it along to you.  Its an interview with LTC Cottles in Mosul, Iraq.  It was uploaded on 10/3/04.  The interview is about 15 minutes long, with a bad delay, but still audible.  It was nice to see a familiar face from Iraq and to hear what a great and courageous job that the soldiers of the 115th are doing.

Family Support Group meeting August 15, 2004 2:00 P.M.

National Guard Armory

***************************************************

Hey everybody, this is just an FYI email. I'm sure you are all aware of this, but just in case you aren't I thought I would pass this along. I just had to do this for Randy. Several of our soldiers will have their drivers licenses expire will in-country and will need to have them re-issued. You can go to the Drivers License office and ask for a form for this exact situation. (It is for all military, dependants, and out of state) It must be filled out completely, a money order attached and a copy of their orders attached and mailed to Montgomery. Our soldiers will be mailed a "valid  drivers license without a photo or signature" to their APO address. When they return home, they have 30 days to go and have a picture and signature done. If this is not done, they will have to take their driving test and written test again!! If you can't get to the local drivers license office, Tommy Baldy has some of the forms at the Florence Armory (256-764-5721).
Hope this helps!!!
