Fort Clover

Alabama 4-H Youth Development Center

May 7 – 9

For Children of National Guard, Reserves, and Recruiters

Alabama 4-H will host an all-expenses paid weekend getaway for 100 children of Alabama’s "citizen soldiers" on May 7 - 9. Fort Clover will be held at the Alabama 4-H Youth Development Center near Columbiana in Shelby County. It is open to children ages 12 to 19 of National Guard, Reserve and recruiters on a first-come, first-served basis. We will accept the first 100 applicants. If there are more than 100 applicants, we will investigate the possibility of holding an additional retreat at a later time.

The focus of Fort Clover will be on having fun. There will be a variety of exciting outdoor activities, such as a climbing wall and canoeing. It will also offer lots of opportunities to get to know other young people who may be facing the same challenges you face. Meals and lodging will be provided by Alabama 4-H.

Fort Clover is a part of Operation Military Kids, a cooperative effort of the Army and Cooperative Extension System 4-H youth development programs.

Participants will need to bring:

_ Bed Linens or Sleeping Bag _ Pillow (Optional) _ Towel _ Wash Cloth and Soap

Clothing should be appropriate for school recreation. Athletic or other comfortable closed-toed shoes will be required for outdoor activities such as the Climbing Wall and the Ropes Course.

A detailed schedule will be sent along with acceptance notification.
